My companies have served nonprofit organizations since 1971, and we serve about 1,000 nonprofits today. As a result, I know Angel as a friend and as a client. I have always found him to be a great strategist with a wise point of view, regardless of the topic.

Angel is a passionate and innovative leader who brings growth-driven impact to nonprofit organizations and to the entire nonprofit world. He is a respected authority on fundraising practices who serves as a source of inspiration and encouragement to others by exemplifying the highest standards of work, and who shares knowledge freely to benefit our community.

At Food For The Poor, Angel oversaw all fundraising and communication initiatives. His tenure in banking taught him business principles and his years teaching taught him the importance of inspiring people to help them grow. As Executive Director and Chief Fundraising Officer, he helped Food For The Poor grow to become one of the largest international relief and development organization serving the poor in the Caribbean and Latin America. This exponential growth is due in great part to Angel’s pursuit of new strategies in data-driven fundraising including the development of a Major Giving department, long-form DRTV programming, direct mail, and digital acquisition and cultivation and a focus on growing monthly donors.

He served as Chair of the ANA-NF Government Affairs Committee and was very active in marshalling nonprofits to lobby Congress on postal and tax issues important to our community. He then served as a tireless Chairman of the Advisory Council. In 2015 he received the “Outstanding Service & Leadership Award” from the ANA-NF. Angel was also co-chair of the Gifts in Kind Committee at InterAction in Washington, D.C., a member of American Fundraising Professionals and a founding member of The Nonprofit Alliance. In 2019 Angel was awarded the prestigious Max Heart Award for Lifetime Achievement by the ANA Nonprofit Federation. I’ve come to respect Angel as a colleague, a client, and now, a friend. If I had a nonprofit with a development challenge or a marketing opportunity, Angel is the one I’d call.

Angel Aloma was instrumental in helping Food For The Poor become the large and well-respected organization that it is today. His love of the mission, the staff and the donors was paralleled only by his zeal for the study and research in fundraising, which made him one of the most respected presenters on that topic at many conferences. His passion in defending the sector and expressing his love for it is unequalled and culminated in his receiving the coveted Max Hart Award. I encourage all who are in need of his talents to take advantage of Angel’s expertise.

Angel Aloma is one of our country’s acknowledged fundraising thought leaders – a true visionary who uniquely understands how to help nonprofits of all sizes optimize their success in today’s competitive marketplace. In a world where many consultants offer one narrow slice of expertise, oftentimes relying on an ‘off the shelf’ idea, Angel has the experience and expertise to craft diverse and expert solutions that never fail to hit the mark, including: High Impact Strategies. Creative development and copywriting. Cross-channel marketing. Organizational development and team building. And on and on. Underneath all these gifts beats the heart of a true servant leader, someone who cares about our nonprofit sector and those who work in it. His greatest passion is helping those who share his love for making our world a better and more humane place. I wish every nonprofit had the pleasure of working with him. He is the most accomplished professional I have met in my 45 years of fundraising.

I have always found Angel Aloma to be a leading light among the many fundraising and marketing experts working on behalf of great nonprofits. Angel has been especially noteworthy in terms of his leadership as follows:
  • He is a frequent, high scoring speaker at our events – he offers the greatest insight and passion for his work and it always resonates, especially his amazing storytelling skill so important to the donation process.
  • He has led our committees – serving as the head of our government affairs committee through very tough issues facing nonprofit fundraising, postal in particular as well as pushing hard to keep the charitable tax deduction on Capitol Hill. He coined terms like “No deduction reduction” and is a fearless advocate.
  • He is a true leader and extremely respected among his peers due to his ability to raise funds for international needs based on fundraising expertise. He has served as a past Chair of our Nonprofit Federation Advisory Council leading the Council on top issues that confront charities nationally in the context of best fundraising practices.
To sum it up, Angel is literally an “angel” here on earth – he uses all of his many talents not for his personal gain, but to advance the cause he works for. Angel is always working for top results; top advocacy and he offers keen insights from his unique years of experience in the front lines of the hardest human suffering. I think Angel can confront any challenge and turn it into a better path for those he works with

I’ve had the pleasure to know and work with Angel for nearly 10 years. During that time, he has been a valuable resource in so many ways. He always helps me be better in my role as VP of Development and Marketing at Feed My Starving Children. He is an expert at coaching our team to increase our fundraising efforts and effectiveness. His knack for finding ways to connect our mission to our donors was borne out of his heartfelt desire to help those in need. I learned so much about the art of storytelling and the tools that can be used to increase support for our cause. He helped to teach our organization ways to grow our direct mail results and use better stories on our website and social media platforms. His insight and experience helped edit our creative and print work to be the most effective. He even showed us the importance of always thanking our donors in a timely fashion to drive deeper relationships, which result in more donations. His wisdom about fundraising and marketing plus the ability to educate people is truly a gift that I am blessed to have received. Whenever I need advice in these areas he is one of the first people I call.
